Michael H. React, Node.js and Web Platforms

My name is Michael H. and I have over 14 years of experience in the tech industry. I specialize in the following technologies: Drupal, React, node.js, CSS, PHP, etc.. I hold a degree in Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. Some of the notable projects I’ve worked on include: Shopify Speed Consultation, Custom UI/UX: Interactive Product Browser, Google Analytics Fix, Wordpress Customization. I am based in Kalamazoo, United States. I've successfully completed 4 projects while developing at Devaims.

My passion is building solutions that are not only technically sound but also deliver an exceptional user experience (UX). I constantly advocate for user-centered design principles, ensuring that the final product is intuitive, accessible, and solves real user problems effectively. I bridge the gap between technical possibilities and the overall product vision.

Working within the Devaims team, I contribute by bringing a perspective that integrates business goals with technical constraints, resulting in solutions that are both practical and innovative. I have a strong track record of rapidly prototyping and iterating based on feedback to drive optimal solution fit.

I’m committed to contributing to a positive and collaborative team environment, sharing knowledge, and helping colleagues grow their skills, all while pushing the boundaries of what's possible in solution development.

Notable Projects

Shopify Speed Consultation

On this project I served as a consultant to evaluate the Google Lighthouse report and provide a list of recommendations to optimize the client's Shopify store for speed. Specifically I consulted the client on the steps that they could take to: - Deliver critical JS/CSS inline - Defer non-critical JS/styles - Removing unused JS/CSS - Minifying JS - Reducing Third-party code The deliverable was a report offering recommendations and steps to take to accomplish them along with a Zoom call to walk through the report.

Custom UI/UX: Interactive Product Browser

For this project, I architected the UI/UX experience according to the design spec. This page allows users to search, browse, and filter paint colors and ultimately add color samples to their cart or their list of favorites. AEM served as the CMS that managed the dataset and the baseline template for the page. On the front end, CSS grid and flex box handled the layout, Javascript handling user interactions, and CSS keyframes are used for the animations. Tech Stack - CMS :: Adobe Experience Manager 6.5 / AEM 6.5 - Templating :: Typescript, Javascript, XML - Front End :: HTML, CSS, Javascript

Google Analytics Fix

This project involved updating some tracking script for GA4 (Google Analytics) conversions. The client was having a few issues that prevented their GA script from properly capturing the data they needed once donations were submitted. Tech Stack - Javascript / jQuery - GA 4 (Google Analytics)

Wordpress Customization

I provided a customization of a real estate agent's Wordpress theme. The client needed to update the way some text displayed throughout the site. The project involved working with Custom Post Types in Wordpress as well as with the Advanced Custom Field plugin.
