Notable Projects

Cronnit

Cronnit is a popular third-party tool for Reddit that allows users to schedule posts in advance. It’s particularly useful for users who want their posts to appear at specific times, such as for timed announcements or to engage with communities in different time zones. Cronnit works by queuing up your post and submitting it to Reddit at the desired time, automating the process that Reddit's native features don't directly support. It typically requires authentication with your Reddit account and lets you set the title, subreddit, and content of your post, as well as the time for posting.

ProxySocket

proxysocket is a Node.js library that creates a simple TCP proxy server. It allows users to easily route TCP traffic through specified endpoints by opening a socket connection between clients and remote servers. It supports basic forwarding of requests, with a focus on minimal configuration and ease of use. This library can be used for testing, tunneling, or routing purposes in various network scenarios. It’s particularly useful for developers who need to manipulate or inspect network traffic.

Compiz Desktop Compositor

Compiz is an open-source window manager for the X Window System, introduced in 2006 by Novell. It was one of the first to leverage hardware-accelerated graphics using OpenGL, delivering smooth transitions, dynamic animations, and 3D effects like wobbly windows and desktop cubes. Its plugin-based design made it popular for a visually enhanced desktop experience. I initially contributed by setting up Doxygen tooling for documentation and later developed performance-boosting effects for lower-end devices, particularly as Ubuntu gained popularity around 2008.

Assembly Cup

ASMCup was a competition where participants wrote assembly-like code to control bots in a virtual machine (VM). The custom VM simulated low-level computing, requiring competitors to optimize for performance and memory. Bots competed in tasks like mazes or combat, with efficiency and intelligent behavior being key to success. The challenge focused on writing highly optimized, low-level code, offering a unique opportunity for developers interested in assembly language and system-level programming. It has been successful and used in universities to teach low level computer programming and AI.

Animal AI Olympics

I competed twice in the Animal-AI Olympics, sponsored by GoodAI, and placed in the top 10 with a two-person team. Our entry featured cutting-edge AI for image segmentation and labeling, trained on millions of synthetic samples. Given only a small 50x50 pixel view of a 3D world, our robot had to solve complex puzzles. We accurately converted this view into stencil and depth buffers using a convolutional neural network in Tensorflow, enabling our AI to navigate and interact with the environment.

Tensorflow Gem Sorter

The TensorFlow Gem Sorter is a machine learning project designed to classify and sort different types of gemstones using TensorFlow, a popular machine learning framework. In this project, the goal is to use TensorFlow's deep learning capabilities to train a neural network model that can recognize various types of gemstones based on their physical characteristics (such as color, shape, and texture).

Divinity: Original Sin Mod

The Divinity: Original Sin Four Player mod allows players to expand their party size from the default two characters to four in the game Divinity: Original Sin. This mod enables cooperative multiplayer for up to four players, letting each player control their own character. The mod enhances the gameplay by offering a fuller party experience in combat, exploration, and interaction within the game's story and world, making it more immersive for larger groups of friends playing together.

CTF

I participate in Capture The Flag (CTF) information security competitions regularly for the last 10 years. These are competitions where teams of researchers are given access to laboratory networks and awarded points based on how many security vulnerabilities they discover. When attending a CTF I often specialize in the following categories: * Web Exploitation: Finding vulnerabilities in programs exposed to the network. These are usually web applications like Wordpress running languages like PHP. * Binary Exploitation: The process of manipulating binary code to make it behave in unintended ways, often to bypass security measures. It involves understanding binary formats, assembly language, and vulnerabilities that can be exploited, such as buffer overflows or format string vulnerabilities. * Reverse Engineering: Analyzing a software system, either in its entirety or in part, to extract design and implementation information. It involves disassembling and inspecting the software’s binaries when source code is not available, to understand its structure, functionality, and behavior.

A bloom filter for Java.
